A team of celebrities were on a roll as they pushed a giant red ball through Canterbury for a new TV show today – until they got stuck at the city’s security bollards.
Hilarious footage, filmed by KentOnline, shows how the 45kg sphere knocked comedian Rob Beckett over as they wrestled it over the obstruction in Guildhall Street.
Fellow comic Kiell Smith-Bynoe and TV presenter Josie Gibson were helping him take on the challenge for the pilot episode of Let’s Play Ball.
Shoppers and tourists watched the team push the inflatable globe past the Cathedral and Westgate Towers.
In one segment, the trio were blindfolded and guided only by the call and bell of the town crier as they struggled through Buttermarket.
Completing other tasks as they went, the stars also traversed Burgate, Palace Street, Orange Street, The Friars, King Street, Blackfriars Street and Whitefriars shopping centre.

Producers had predicted the challenge would unravel into comedic chaos and strategic gameplay, demanding quick thinking and teamwork.
The prospective TV comedy is based on an existing Dutch concept which aired on YouTube via StukTV, is being produced by Banijay UK labels Initial and Zeppotron.
Katy Manley, managing director of Initial, said: “This hilarious new show is the perfect next joint project for us.
“Initial brings the big red balls (we also make Wipeout), while Zeppotron will unlock its legendary black book to cast the funniest people in the country. We can’t wait to take this out to buyers in the UK.”
Peter Holmes, managing director of Zeppotron, added: “Like the Zeppotron team, Let’s Play Ball is very simple and very silly.

“We’re really looking forward to joining forces with Initial once more to put our own spin on this big, bold, ball-based format.”
