NBC‘s popular reality TV show is returning with a new spin-off, but with a shocking casting twist. After four seasons, the renowned series is undergoing a significant format change.
What is the release date for the NBC TV show spin-off?
NBC’s The Traitors is set for a comeback in the form of a spin-off, titled The Traitors: New Blood. While the previous seasons featured celebrities and socialites as participants, the spin-off will flip the experience this time. Hosted by Alan Cumming, it will feature 22 everyday people.
The Emmy-winning host will open the doors to his Scottish castle for 22 American civilians. All of them have been handpicked from a nationwide search resulting in more than 60,000 hopeful applicants.
NBC hopes the spin-off show will replicate the success of the four-season reality TV show that first kicked off in 2023 with Season 1. In three years, The Traitors has turned into one of the most acclaimed shows in the reality TV genre. The third season of the series even earned five Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program for Alan Cumming.

The fourth season of the NBC TV show, which premiered on Peacock earlier this year, was also a major success. It led the Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards, while eventually earning five trophies. It won the Best Competition Series, Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, Best Show Host for Alan Cumming, Female Star of the Year for Lisa Rinna, and Male Star of the Year for Rob Rausch.
The series is produced by Studio Lambert. Executive producers include Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, and Jack Burgess, alongside host Cumming. Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, and Doran Azouelos are also executive producers.
The Traitors: New Blood spin-off TV show will premiere with two episodes on NBC on September 17, 2026. New episodes will air on Thursdays, first on NBC and then the next day on Peacock.
