Jennifer Aniston just broke her silence on the death of Friends director James Burrows with a heartfelt tribute.
On Saturday, June 20, the actress who played Rachel Green in the ’90s sitcom took to Instagram and Facebook to mourn the death of Burrows, who was a “father figure” to her. Burrows died at 85 on June 19.
“Oh boy… Papa Burrows,” Aniston, 57, began her update, alongside a broken-heart emoji and a carousel of photos of Burrows. “The hardest thing about writing this is that you spent a lifetime making people feel loved, and now it feels impossible to put all of that love into a few paragraphs.”
She continued, “He called us his ‘kids’ — ‘Where are the kids?’ ’Let’s see if the kids can make the joke work.’ No pressure. His own incredible children were generous enough to share him with all of us who were lucky enough to experience his unicorn presence.”
Aniston added, “He was a father figure to me. He always checked in on me. He worried about me, celebrated me, taught me, guided me, and held me through the hardest times and the best of times. He spoiled us rotten. Most of all, he taught us — the kids — how important it is to love and respect one another. To take care of each other. To have each other’s backs and support each other, no matter what.

To conclude her tribute to Burrows, the Morning Show star shared, “I miss your voice. I miss your laugh. I miss your brilliance. Wherever you are, I hope someone is asking, ‘Where are the kids?’”
Friends aired for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. In addition to Aniston, the beloved sitcom starred Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, David Schwimmer as Ross Geller, and the late Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing.
