Junior Regional Cup opens the summer season
Before the international stars take centre stage, the day will begin with another important competition for the future of the sport. The Junior Finals at Freestyle Night will also serve as the opening competition of the 2026 FIS Freestyle Aerials Waterramp Junior Regional Cup.
The Junior Regional Cup provides Europe’s up-and-coming aerial skiers with valuable international competition experience during the off-season, allowing athletes to test new skills and continue their development on water ramps ahead of the winter campaign.
Following the opening competition in Mettmenstetten, the series will continue at Acrobat Park in Štíty (Czech Republic) on 8-9 August, where the remaining competitions of the summer will be held. The circuit offers an important development pathway for young athletes, many of whom will be aiming to progress to the European Cup and eventually the World Cup circuit.
More than just freestyle skiing
While the aerials competition remains the centrepiece of the day, Freestyle Night has become much more than a sporting event.
The programme will once again be hosted by well-known freestyle commentators Marco Juen and Martin Misof, whose voices have accompanied countless international competitions over the years.
Off the ramps, visitors can also look forward to performances by popular Swiss entertainer Knackeboul, who will take to the stage with a live concert as part of the evening programme. Throughout the day, spectators can also enjoy a Skate Jam Session, the crowd-favourite Tramp’n’Dive contest and a spectacular skydiving demonstration.
Night finals under the lights
One of the defining moments of Freestyle Night comes after sunset, when the competition reaches its climax with the traditional night finals.
Under floodlights, the world’s best aerialists will battle for victory in one of the most spectacular settings anywhere on the summer freestyle calendar. The illuminated water ramps and electric atmosphere have made the night finals one of the event’s signature moments, attracting thousands of spectators every year.
Once the sporting action comes to an end, the celebrations continue well into the night with the traditional Freestyle Night afterparty, rounding off a day that perfectly blends elite sport, entertainment and community.
