QUINCY — Tickets moved so fast for Quincy Community Theatre’s upcoming performance of “Footloose!” that QCT extended the engagement for an extra weekend.
Two matinee performances were added for the theater’s staging of the musical adaptation of 1984 film. The new performances will be at 2 p.m. on both Aug. 1 and Aug. 2. Tickets for the added shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23.
“Footloose!” tells the story of Ren McCormack, a high school student who moves from Chicago to a small town where dancing is outlawed. As tensions rise, Ren inspires a group of teenagers to fight for their right to dance, sparking a heartfelt journey of rebellion, healing, and hope.
“‘Footloose!’ is an energetic and joyful story about the power of self-expression to heal, to grow, and to connect,” Director Lydia Wagner said. “For fans of the 1984 movie, don’t worry, all your favorite songs will be on stage, plus a few new songs that we know audiences will love.”
Headlining the QCT production will be Maurice Silas as Ren, Morgan Jennings as Ariel Moore, Caleigh Twaddle as Rusty, Conall Wolfmeyer as Willard Hewitt, Patrick Hedges as Reverend Shaw Moore, Gretchen Wolfmeyer as Vi Moore, Miller Robertson as Chuck Cranston, Mekia Gay as Ethel McCormack, and Charly Nicholson as Urleen.
Along with the two added shows, “Footloose!” will hit the stage July 16-19 and 23-26. Tickets for the newly added performances are expected to move quickly once available to the public. For the latest information on this and all QCT performances, please visit 1qct.org.
