Series stars Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum have welcomed their first child together, the couple told PEOPLE on Tuesday.
“Our precious new family member entered the world in early April,” the actors said via email. “Our daughter has been the greatest gift, and we are loving getting to know her better with each passing day.”

Krakow and Rosenbaum humorously continued, “It’s already hard to remember life before she arrived. We are loving our roles as parents, and it feels like being parents together has only deepened our partnership. We are, however, a bit more tired, and Erin — who was a non-coffee drinker previously — has had a change of heart on the matter.”
A number of weeks out from the birth of their daughter, the couple recalled how “joyful and dreamy” it was to bring their daughter home. “We got very lucky to have a happy and easy baby,” they said. “Our families came out to L.A. to meet her and help us adjust. It’s been so beautiful watching all of them delight in her presence as we have.”
And the dog they share, Willoughby, “has been an adorable bodyguard. He’ll hear the tiniest noise from his little sister and run to her at heroic speed.”
The couple also discussed how life on set has prepared them in unexpected ways for parenthood. “Ben has gotten covered in oil, disaster makeup, or some other messy situation just about every season of When Calls the Heart — which has probably been the best prep of all,” they shared. “It’s really true that you can never have too many burp cloths! And Erin has spent years acting with babies on set.”
Indeed, Krakow regularly works with child and even infant actors as the headstrong schoolteacher Elizabeth Thatcher, who becomes Elizabeth Thatcher Thornton after marrying Daniel Lissing’s Jack Thornton in season 5 of When Calls the Heart.

Krakow and Rosenbaum, who has portrayed jack-of-all-trades Mike Hickam since the show’s first season, announced their romance on Instagram in 2024, and their marriage last June.
Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan Grant, and Kayla Wallace, who plays Fiona Miller, announced that they were expecting their first child together in November. They both shared happy tidings on Krakow and Rosenbaum’s announcement post, which featured the couple holding up ultrasound scans with the caption: “So much to be grateful for.”
