Uh Huh Her, the duo of LA synth-rockers Camila Grey and Leisha Hailey, named themselves after PJ Harvey’s 2004 album, and they started releasing their own music just three years after that LP came out. Uh Huh Her have been on an extended hiatus for more than a decade, ever since the release of their 2014 album Future Souls. Maybe it’s appropriate that they should return on the same day that PJ Harvey drops a new single.
Today, Uh Huh Her announce that they’ve signed with Kill Rock Stars, and they’re getting ready for a 15th-anniversary reissue of their 2011 album Nocturnes. It’ll feature the previously unreleased original mixes from producer Tchad Blake, as well as a couple of bonus tracks, including a cover of the Sonic Youth classic “Kool Thing.” They’ve also shared a brand new single, a sleek and glamorous track called “Shook.” It’s got a big, gleaming chorus and a sense of confidence that feels downright rare. Check it out below.
“Shook” is out now on Kill Rock Stars. The reissue Nocturnes: Redux is out 8/7.
