On a new episode of Joe and Jada, Fat Joe said don’t expect to see him with Timothée Chalamet and other celebrity fans of the New York Knicks until the next season.
In the immediate aftermath of the New York Knicks’ first championship since 1973, the Bronx rapper told fans not to expect to see him hanging out with the actor. “Timmy’s not my friend,” he said of Chalamet, while adding that he holds no ill will towards the Dune actor. “Once the season’s over, I’ll never see him again ‘til the season comes back. I’m not confused. Timmy’s a good guy, I love him, we’re mutual fans.”
During the NBA Finals, Chalamet and Joe were often seen seated front row at the games, and even celebrated together on multiple occasions. But he doesn’t think their friendship will extend beyond the Knicks.
“I think he’ll pick up for you, out of the season,” responded Jadakiss. “Timmy’s my man,” Joe continued. “But what I’m tryin’ to tell you is, once that season is over there’s no more Ben Stiller. s**t gon’ be depressing, man. I’ve been with Ben Stiller, I been with Timothée Chalamet, I’ve been actin’ the f**k up! No more, once the season’s over. Back to Joe and Jada. … There’s no more Timmy Chalamet… Tracy Morgan lives up the block, so we f**k with him. Who you think still gonna hang out with me after the season? Because lately I’ve been, like, star-studded, guys. I don’t know if y’all got Instagram, but I’ve been acting up. … Is they even gonna talk to me when the season’s over? I’m really waiting to see if that’s what it is. We’re seasonal buddies.”
Chalamet was a fixture throughout the postseason. He and Fat Joe were also spotted together at a New York airport on June 6, returning from the Knicks’ Game 2 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, chanting, “Knicks in four,” as seen in the video shared by Joe below. They were also both in attendance for the championship ticker-tape parade along the Canyon of Heroes on Thursday (June 18), joined by the likes of Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, and Mary J. Blige as Jalen Brunson carried the trophy down the route.
Joe was in charge of a hip-hop float featured at the parade, which included the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Mary J. Blige, Remy Ma, Q-Tip, Fabolous, Ja Rule, the LOX, and Yung Miami, among others.
Recently, he also spoke about how the Knicks’ path to victory brought the city together in a way he’s never seen before. “I’ve seen Hasidic Jews breakdancing with Black kids outside the stadium,” he said. “This is the greatest unification you’ve ever seen of this New York City in your life since 9/11.”
