Olivia Wilde has officially returned to the spotlight after a messy time in her personal life. In late June 2026, she released her third directorial film, The Invite, and used its promotion to share a rare update about her love life.
In her cover story with The Cut, Wilde revealed she’s dating Caspar Jopling, an art dealer who was previously married to singer Ellie Goulding. “When you’re with someone who’s not in the entertainment industry or isn’t a public figure, I have a sense of, I want to protect this person as much as I can,” she told the outlet.
Although cautious about making her relationship public, Wilde said with a smile, “I’m in a really lovely relationship now. I adore him, and I feel completely whole and intact as a person.”
“I think it’s only possible after spending a couple years alone,” she added. “If you haven’t ever been single for a few years, how do you even know who you are?”
Wilde and Jopling first sparked romance rumors in September 2025, and by January 2026, People reported that Wilde and Jopling’s relationship was “getting serious.” A source confirmed that Jopling had even “introduced her to his family and friends.” That same month, Jopling joined Wilde at the Sundance Film Festival, where she premiered The Invite and another film, I Want Your Sex.
Wilde’s latest relationship comes nearly three years after her split from Harry Styles, whom she began dating after he joined her movie, Don’t Worry Darling. Before that, Wilde was engaged to Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, with whom she shares two kids: Otis, 12, and Daisy, 9.
Elsewhere in the interview, Wilde reflected on her dynamic with Sudeikis, saying they’re “very, very, very different people who are certainly much better as friends and co-parents.” This comes after Wilde’s appearance on the June 17 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she spoke about the difficult moment she realized their engagement was over.
Wilde remembered her 36th birthday on March 10, 2020, explaining that she and Sudeikis “had been having a rough time there for a while.”
“We had a real bumpy, bumpy ride, and we were driving home from my birthday party my friends had had, and I said, ‘Did you give me a birthday present?’ And he said, ‘What would I get you, Olivia? I don’t know you,’” she recounted. “And he wasn’t wrong. We didn’t know each other anymore.”
Wilde also opened up about her “traumatizing” experience at CinemaCon 2022, when she was served custody papers while presenting Don’t Worry Darling. A woman approached the stage, handed Wilde an envelope labeled “personal and confidential,” and left, forcing Wilde to resume her presentation as if nothing had happened.
“It was one of the most f—d up things I went through, among so many,” Wilde told host Alex Cooper. “And I’ll just say that now with enough space behind it, the part that I can laugh at is that—obviously, it was incredibly traumatizing, there are so many elements to that—but I get through it because, weirdly, as women we’re taught to muscle through the most insane experiences.”
She recalled telling herself to finish her speech before heading backstage, where she “completely dissolved into a puddle.”
“But then, I thought, ‘No one saw it because there’s no phones allowed in this event. No one saw. Oh, what’s that? It’s already up on Page Six? There’s a video? OK,’” Wilde continued.
Wilde still doesn’t know whether Sudeikis was aware of or involved in the timing of the custody papers being served. “Jason has told me that he did not know, and I need to believe that to continue [our coparenting relationship],” she noted.
“I think that lawyers can be super f—d up and do f—d up things. … It was so f—d up in so many ways. I know that, whether or not he knew it was going to happen, I know it really hurt him to see it happening to me. It was undeniable that it was a f—d up thing, and I know he felt very bad that it happened to me.”
