Courteney Coxand Johnny McDaid have reportedly turned the page on one of Hollywood’s most private long-term romances.
After 13 years together, the Friends star and the Snow Patrol musician have parted ways, according to a report by People magazine on Sunday, June 27.
Cox, 62, and McDaid, 49, spent more than a decade loving each other across an ocean, dividing their time between the United States and the United Kingdom. As per a Daily Mail report, Cox and McDaid’s relationship ended gracefully, with kindness and mutual respect.
The two are believed to have ended things near the close of 2025, as per the outlet.

A friend told The Mail on Sunday that the two remain on good terms, with no bitterness surrounding their decision to end their romance. “Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much,” the source told the Mail.
The same friend pointed to timing rather than conflict. “This was not an ugly split. They had simply reached a point where they were living different lives,” they said.
The couple has not been photographed together in months; their last public outing together was the US Open Championship in New York City in September 2025.

Cox and McDaid met in 2013 through mutual friend Ed Sheeran, as reported by Billboard. McDaid has co-written several of Sheeran’s biggest hits, including Shape of You, Photograph, and Galway Girl.
According to E! News, the couple got engaged early on, called it off in 2015, then reconciled the next year and stayed together, never returning to wedding plans.
On the Minnie Questionspodcast in 2024, Cox vulnerably opened up about their earlier breakup, which came during a therapy session. “I didn’t know it was coming…. We were engaged and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain,” she said.
