- The social app combines music and film recommendations with community features, offering an alternative to algorithm-driven discovery.
- Corus, a new social platform for music and film discovery, has launched.
The app combines social networking with music and film recommendations, allowing users to share favourite tracks and movies while connecting with others through shared taste. It currently integrates with Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, TIDAL and Deezer.
Corus was founded by Gabe Jacobs, who previously cofounded the music discovery platform Cymbal, which operated between 2015 and 2018. Unlike Cymbal’s chart-based format, Corus adopts a visual, social-first interface inspired by platforms including Instagram and Letterboxd.
The platform offers free and paid memberships. Free users can publish up to five posts per day, while subscribers receive unlimited posting, profile customisation, playlist exports and access to a curated favourites feed. Corus is ad-free, with subscriptions intended to support the platform’s long-term operation.
Recent additions include feeds highlighting trending discussions and notable releases from the previous 30 days. The company says it’s also exploring features designed to help artists generate additional income through the platform.
