Galantis opens the next chapter with a fresh take on a dance music favorite. The Swedish dance music powerhouse has released “Do You Mind,” alongside the announcement of the new EP ‘The Devil’s Tax Return: Volume 1,’ arriving October 16 via Ninja Tune’s Counter Records. Listen here.
The new single follows May’s “Stay Alive” and continues a creative direction built around reimagining beloved songs through Christian Karlsson’s unmistakable production style. Instead of recreating familiar records, Galantis reshapes them into vibrant new experiences while preserving the emotion that made them unforgettable.
“Do You Mind” revisits Paleface featuring Kyla’s influential 2007 UK bassline and R&B anthem, a song that later reached global audiences through Crazy Cousinz’s celebrated remix and Drake’s chart-topping “One Dance.” Galantis approaches the track with respect for its legacy while delivering an inventive new production.
“Some records feel untouchable because they already captured a moment so perfectly. ‘Do You Mind’ is one of those tracks,” says Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson. “Instead of trying to completely reinvent it, I wanted to celebrate what made it so special while giving it a new life. It’s a record I’ve loved for years and I like the idea of taking care of the music that we already know and love. I want my kids and their generation to know these songs. It’s important not to forget all the beauty in music that we’ve had.”
‘The Devil’s Tax Return: Volume 1’ continues that philosophy across six tracks, reworking songs originally recorded by Frankie Valli, The Killers, Feist, and The War On Drugs. The collection reflects the music that shaped Karlsson during the formative years of Miike Snow while celebrating the lasting impact of songs that continue to inspire.
The music is inventive, melodic, and unmistakably Galantis, balancing nostalgia with forward-thinking production. Each reinterpretation highlights Karlsson’s remarkable ability to find new dimensions within familiar material.
The release arrives as Galantis continues an active festival season. Following standout performances at Electric Forest and MIDSOMMAR in San Francisco, Karlsson brings the project to stages across Asia and North America, including Veld Music Festival in Toronto, MIDSOMMAR events in Chicago and New York, and additional headline dates throughout the summer and fall.
With more than 11 billion global streams, multiple platinum releases, and a catalog that continues to shape modern dance music, Galantis keeps pushing forward with another ambitious collection built on timeless songwriting and fearless production.
