Everybody cut ‘Footloose’

“Footloose the Musical” (music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford, book by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, based on Pitchford’s screenplay for the 1984 film, with additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman) opens this week at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday (but Wednesday matinees only July 15 and 22), 12:45 and 6:45 Sunday. Buffet opens 30 minutes before curtain time. Tickets are $43-$47, $33 for children 15 and younger and show-only. Call (501) 562-3131 or visit the website.

‘Gleeful’ anniversary

To mark its fourth birthday, Actors Theatre of Little Rock actors will perform hits from the TV show “Glee” for “Little Rock Sings: Glee!”, 6:30 p.m. Monday at Camp Taco, 822 E. Sixth St., Little Rock. Also part of the evening’s activities: “Sing-alongs, surprises, and all the show choir fun,” according to a news release, which suggests, “Come dressed in your best ‘Glee’-inspired look.” The theater company will also announce its lineup for its fifth season. Admission is free; the theater company is looking to raise $4,000 through donations, via the website.

Brass and organ

A brass ensemble consisting of Andrew Stadler, trumpet; Luke Sargent, trumpet; David Renfro, horn; Austin Motley, trombone; and Ed Owen, tuba, join organist Colin MacKnight for a patriotic “USA 250 Brass and Organ Pops Concert,” 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 W. 17th St. in Little Rock.

The program will include arrangements of “The Star-Spangled Banner”; “Adoration” by Florence Price; “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland; “Amazing Grace”; “Adagio for Strings,” op.11, by Samuel Barber; “Variations on ‘America’” by Charles Ives; the second movement, “Largo,” from the Symphony No. 9, “New World,” by Antonín Dvorak; “Washington Post March” by John Philip Sousa; “Simple Song” from “Mass” by Leonard Bernstein; “Concert Fantasy on Themes by Gershwin” by David Goode; and the chorale “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.”

Hot Springs gallery

Abstracts by Sammy Peters, paintings that emphasize geometric forms and playful lines by Steven Wise, figurative paintings by Mark Blaney and pastels by Dennis McCann are part of the July exhibit, opening with a 5-9 p.m. Friday Hot Springs Gallery Walk reception at Justus Fine Art Gallery, 827A Central Ave., Hot Springs. The exhibition is up through July 31. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and by appointment. Call (501) 321-2335 or visit the website.
