Country music star Jillian Cardarelli is taking things “one day at a time” amid her battle with breast cancer.
The singer, 33, shared a health update with fans June 26 on Instagram after revealing that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Cardarelli posted several photos showing herself in a hospital as part of what she called the “first big step” in her treatment.
“Now it’s time to heal while we wait for the next step in my treatment plan,” she captioned the photos. “Thank you to the incredible team at Dana-Farber for your kindness, compassion, and support throughout such a challenging and stressful process. I’m truly so grateful to be in your care.”
She added, “Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, checked in, and lifted me up. One day at a time.”
In an interview with People magazine published June 10, Cardarelli said she was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma in May, which she said led to immediate and dramatic changes to her day-to-day life.
“One minute you’re focused on filming schedules, scripts, music and everything,” she said. “And the next thing is doctors, scans, pathology reports and words I’d never even … I feel like I’m learning a new language.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, invasive ductal carcinoma makes up roughly 80% of breast cancer cases among women, and it’s often detected in mammograms before symptoms are noticeable.

Cardarelli also shared some of the early warning signs, telling People magazine that she “felt something a little different” and “was a little more tired” before she felt a lump in her breast and subsequently received her diagnosis.
“I feel fear and sadness,” she said in the People interview. “I’m like, why did this happen? I do not fit the profile of somebody that should get cancer at 33 years old. So yes, there’s a little bit of anger there. But I’m not angry at God. I’m leaning on Him more than ever.”
At the time, Cardarelli told People her treatment plan would start with surgery, adding that doctors are “confident this can be eradicated and I will hopefully live a very long, normal and healthy and happy life.”
In addition to her music, which includes her 2020 track “Strong” with Charles Esten, Cardarelli has also starred on the Great American Family television series “Crossroad Springs.” She has been married to Brian Parker, a sports agent, since 2021.
