The Kansas City Royals kicked off the metro’s holiday weekend Thursday night with one of two extended fireworks displays.
The patriotic spectaculars are part of the team’s celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Thursday night’s show was a special tribute as part of the club’s Armed Forces Night.
The Royals’ extended America-themed fireworks show, with high-powered lights and special effects, will begin after the Saturday, July 4 game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals’ regular Friday night fireworks moved to Thursday night this week because of the FIFA World Cup match between Ghana and Colombia on Friday, July 3 at adjacent Kansas City (Arrowhead) Stadium.
Both fireworks shows were designed by Image Engineering and sponsored by Price Chopper and Oreo.
