Maren Morris joked about how challenging it is to get Taylor Swift ahead of her wedding to Travis Kelce.
During a Friday, July 3 appearance on the Today show, host Craig Melvin mentioned that Variety reported Morris, 36, was invited to the 14-time Grammy winner’s wedding before asking what gift she’d get for Swift.
“I don’t know. Like, what do you get?” Morris joked. “That’d be a hard person to buy for.”
The “My Church” artist then added that she was “so happy” for Swift and Kelce, both 36.
“This is such an incredible thing,” Morris said of the upcoming wedding, which is reported to take place at New York City’s Madison Square Garden over the July 4th weekend. “I think she has such a close tie to New York, and, yeah, I’m so excited for them to celebrate their love. It’s so cool.”
In a November 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show, Morris spoke about her friendship with the “Opalite” artist as host Jimmy Fallon showed the “Girl” performer a photo of her and Swift performing onstage at the Eras Tour; that summer, Morris joined Swift onstage in Chicago for the live debut of their Fearless (Taylor’s Version) vault track “You All Over Me.”
Morris then revealed that the pair initially crossed paths in 2018 on Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour.
“She was kind enough to ask me to come out and sing my song ‘The Middle’ with her. We were in Arlington, Texas at the Cowboys stadium — which is where I’m from — so she was nice enough to, like, give me that date,” she told Fallon, 51, at the time.
Morris then praised Swift for being “so supportive of me and my career over the years.”
“I mean, we’re also the same age, but looking up to her since I was a teenager and watching her navigate her country music to pop career so gracefully and just the way she treats her fans is just so kind and generous. She’s setting a high bar,” Morris added.

In May, Morris opened up about receiving a text message inviting her to Swift and Kelce’s wedding in an interview with SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami with Mack & Jen. However, it was likely fake.
The topic came up as one of the hosts asked Morris if she had “any tea on the wedding,” to which the Grammy winner replied, “No, I wish.”
That’s when Morris revealed she had received a “spam text” a few weeks prior.
“It was like, ‘You’re invited to Taylor and Travis’ wedding.’ And I was like, ‘I’m blocking this,’ because, like, there’s no way they would send an invitation through a text like this,” she said at the time.
Morris then added, “But I was like, ‘How is this going to my number?’”
As one of the hosts wondered if Morris could’ve been an actual invitation, the country star noted how “weird” it was that she received the message.

On Thursday, July 2, guests were spotted arriving at Madison Square Garden for what was believed to be the “Fortnight” hitmaker and Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s rehearsal dinner.
The couple’s loved ones, including Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Abigail Anderson, Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson, Greg Olsen and Aric Jones, were seen arriving at the venue for the festivities at roughly 6 p.m.
Ahead of the dinner on Thursday, Swift’s rep told PEOPLE she and Kelce are donating $26 million to various organizations close to their hearts, including the Food Bank for NYC, Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s The Store in Nashville.
Insiders told PEOPLE ahead of the dinner how MSG had been “transformed” amid speculation that a castle was being built within the venue. A source exclusively told PEOPLE that it was “not a castle but it looks very special.”
“They have grass, carpets and canopies, and it looks like a place where you’d get married. There’s a stage set up, but it’s special,” the source added.
In August 2025, Swift and Kelce got engaged, nearly two years after they confirmed their romance in October 2023.
