Today co-anchor Al Roker is celebrating his granddaughter Sky‘s major milestone — her third birthday — in adorable new photos shared on social media.
On Friday, July 3, the longtime NBC meteorologist, 71, took to Instagram with a slideshow of snapshots of Sky through the years as she officially turned 3.
“Three years ago, at 11:41am, Sky Clara Laga came into the world and made it juuuuust a little bit brighter,” Roker captioned his update. “Happy Birthday, my smart, beautiful, funny granddaughter.”
The first two pictures featured the doting grandfather holding a newborn Sky, with the images gradually transitioning to what she looks like today. Sky is the child of Roker’s eldest child, daughter Courtney Roker Laga, 39, and her husband, Wesley Laga. He welcomed Courtney with his late ex-wife, Alice Bell.
In the comments, Roker’s followers joined him in wishing Sky a happy birthday — and many couldn’t help but point out how irresistibly cute she was in the photos. One fan declared, “Happy 3rd birthday to your adorable Sky!!! What JOY she has brought to you and your family. God bless her!!!”
Another shared, “She’s a beauty! So Sweet!! Happy birthday, Sky!”
Someone else echoed, “Happy birthday to your beautiful granddaughter,” as a different follower agreed, writing, “Cuteness overload.”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user commented, “God’s enormous blessings over your life, princess! Let your future days be brighter than the later days, and all your dreams come true!”
In 2024, Roker reflected on the differences between becoming a parent and a grandparent. “Especially when you’re a first-time parent, you are so immersed in making sure your kid’s OK. It is all-consuming,” he explained on Today. “And while from time to time you can appreciate the joy and the faith, you’re just so concerned and worried about this little person that you’re responsible for. ”

Roker continued, “By the time you become a grandparent, you already know what it takes to raise a child. And since it’s not your primary responsibility, you can really just bask in the joy of everything they do because you don’t have to worry about all the other stuff.”
In addition to Courtney, the Today co-host welcomed two children with his wife, 20/20 co-anchor Deborah Roberts, 65: a daughter, Leila Roker, 27, and a son, Nicholas Roker, 23.
