Millie Bobby Brown got secondhand embarrassment after hearing Louis Partridge’s failed audition story.
The Enola Holmes 3 costars were playing a game of “Lie vs. Lie” with Entertainment Weekly.
“Oh, my God. I have the ick,” she exclaimed.
Millie Bobby Brown can’t help but cringe after learning of her Enola Holmes 3 costar Louis Partridge’s no good, very bad experience at a recent audition.
The actress, who reprises her role as the titular detective in the upcoming Netflix threequel, confesses her “secondhand ick” just from hearing Partridge’s story during a new installment of Entertainment Weekly’s “Lie vs. Lie,” where Partridge shares his worst audition story as part of the game, and his costars guess whether he is telling true or false stories.
“I did something recently that I shall not name, and I had to sing, and so I spent quite a lot of money, a small fortune, on singing lessons,” he says. “And when I got into the room, I very much took the Hugh Jackman approach of just belting out. He’s a good singer, I’m not, but I went for it.”

Spoiler alert: It was not the way to go.
“At the end, I had to double over, and I’d gone all dizzy because I was shouting so loud,” Patridge confesses. “I thought loudness might equate to skill. And I had to excuse myself from the room after my song.”
To make matters worse, he reveals that the incident occurred when he was pretty deep into the audition process for the undisclosed project. “I was meeting the director and the producer,” he adds.
When pressed for information about the track, Partridge explains that it was a “theater song” but hesitates to share its title. His brief pause rings serious alarm bells for Brown, who immediately declares that her costar is lying. But Partridge reveals that he is very much telling the truth — and that the song that went wrong was “Santa Fe” from the Tony-winning musical Newsies.
“And you didn’t get the role?” Brown asks, to which Partridge bluntly replies, “No.”
“You went dizzy? And you left the room? That is so embarrassing,” she admits before bursting into laughter.
Partridge sets the scene for Brown. “I went all hot, stumbling around like this,” he confesses, grabbing onto the table between them. “And then I had to hold a water bottle up to my face to cool down.”
Brown’s jaw drops in response. “Oh, my God. I have the ick,” she exclaims. “I actually have secondhand ick.”
To which a laughing Partridge replies, “I think they did too!”
After her initial wave of disgust, Brown tries her best to rally behind her costar. “Oh my gosh, Lou. I’m really sorry about that,” she says, “but I’m sure you sounded great.”

While Partridge may not have landed that part, he is set to reprise his role as the Viscount Tewkesbury in the third Enola Holmes film. The mystery-adventure film, which also stars Henry Cavill as Enola’s older brother Sherlock Holmes, will follow its heroine as she juggles both her deepening relationship with Tewkesbury and a curious new case.
Enola Holmes 3 is streaming now on Netflix. Hear Partridge tell his audition story — and Brown share how she helped cure her cat’s cancer — in the video above.
