Gas prices are up, food prices don’t seem to be coming down, and the rent, to paraphrase a popular quote, is simply too high.
With that, people are looking for cheap ways to have a little fun without breaking the bank.
Recently, Adventureland was listed among the most affordable theme parks in the country.
HomeToGo created its Theme Park Index, which looks at a theme park’s ticket affordability, parking price, and the cost to stay nearby. The index ranked 40 of the most affordable theme parks across the United States.
Where does Adventureland rank when it comes to affordability?
When it comes to Adventureland, HomeToGo found that the Iowa-based theme park was among the most affordable in the country.
Adventureland was No. 8 in terms of total cost. That includes ticket price, parking cost, and the price of accommodation for a single adult.
Here’s a look at the top 10 parks ranked most affordable this year by HomeToGo:
- Quassy Amusement Park – Connecticut
- Fun Spot America Themepark, Orlando – Florida
- Castles N’ Coasters – Arizona
- Wild Adventures – Georgia
- Six Flags Frontier City – Oklahoma
- Alabama Adventure – Alabana
- Six Flags New England – Massachusetts
- Adventureland – Iowa
- Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari
- Tropic Falls at OWA – Alabama
Adventureland’s total cost was $137.82 for a single adult. According to HomeToGo, the average daily total price for a theme park vacation is 189.39 per person.
In all, seven of the top 40 most affordable parks in the Theme Park Index are located in the Midwest.

What about Lost Island?
Lost Island is a theme park with a water park located in Waterloo.
Lost Island was not listed in HomeToGo’s Theme Park Index. However, its ticket prices are just as affordable as tickets to Adventureland.
Weekend ticket prices for a single adult are listed at $48 while weekday ticket prices for an adult are $45. Parking at Lost Island is $10.
