Matt Smith expressed disbelief after learning Keanu Reeves watched his film Morbius during a flight
Smith praised Reeves as a legendary actor and joked about the unusual in-flight movie choice

Matt Smith couldn’t hide his surprise after learning Keanu Reeves once spent a flight watching Morbius.
During a Wednesday, July 1 appearance on Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, the House of the Dragon star was told that Reeves, 61, had previously been spotted watching the Razzie-winning 2022 superhero film — in which Smith, 43, played the villain Milo — while on a plane.
“F— off,” Smith replied in disbelief. “You are joking.”
“Yeah, he loves you,” Broski, 29, joked.

Despite his surprise, Smith made it clear he’s one of Reeves’ biggest fans.
“I love Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves, what a movie star,” Smith said. “Wow. He just looks like an angel. He has something, you know what I mean? Like if you were to get a guardian angel in life, please God, let it be Keanu Reeves.”
The revelation that Reeves had chosen Morbius as his in-flight entertainment only made Smith more incredulous.

“I genuinely think that that period of movies, that sort of ‘90s period of films, I just love,” he admitted. “From Point Break onwards. I just think he’s the best.”
“He was watching Morbius?” Smith asked, to which Broski confirmed, “He was watching Morbius on a flight. What do you watch on flights?”
“Not f—ing Morbius,” Smith replied, still in disbelief. “Jesus Christ. My God, he must have really gone through the BA library to be getting to that.”
Released in 2022, Morbius stars Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist suffering from a rare blood disorder who develops a risky cure that transforms him into a living vampire with superhuman abilities. Smith plays Milo, Morbius’ wealthy childhood friend, who undergoes the same treatment and embraces his newfound powers, putting the two on a collision course.

When the interviewer suggested Reeves may have been drinking, Smith doubled down on the joke.
“He was drunk,” Broski joked.
“Oh, was he?” Smith said, playing along. “He was having a moment. He’s on the Valium or something.”
Smith immediately clarified that the comments came from a place of admiration. “No, but what a legend,” he said. “I love Keanu Reeves. I just want to make that really clear.”

As for his own travel habits, Smith said his in-flight viewing is much less adventurous.
“I’m really boring on flights,” he explained. “I tend to watch stuff that I can fall asleep to or I’ll watch like reruns of The Office. I’m one of those guys that likes to fall asleep to something. Is that weird?”
He added that he also enjoys revisiting the beloved British comedies starring Steve Coogan as the fictional radio and TV host Alan Partridge while traveling.
“I’ll watch a lot of Alan Partridge,” said Smith. “I don’t know if you’ve ever watched Alan Partridge. I think it’s the greatest single British character that’s been created in the last 30 years. Please watch it. It’s amazing.”
House of the Dragon premiered June 21, with new episodes streaming Sundays on HBO Max.
