While the internet can’t stop poking fun at how many celebrities were at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 1,000-person wedding, it seems the guests couldn’t either.
It’s been alleged by Rob Shuter, on his Naughty But Nice Substack, that there was a “running joke” at the wedding that no one really knew Swift and Kelce.

“The running joke all night was, ‘How do you know Taylor and Travis?’” one insider said. “The funny part was that a lot of people couldn’t answer. Most weren’t close friends. Many barely knew the couple at all.”
They added, “Most people never even got to say hello to Taylor or Travis. They certainly didn’t have a real conversation, and many don’t even have Taylor’s phone number or email to thank her afterward. That’s what happens when your wedding becomes a celebrity convention.”
While many of the stars the couple loves were there, like Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and Adam Sandler, many of the guests confused fans. Most notably, many were confused as to why Sacha Baron Cohen, Brad Pitt, and Ethan Hawke were there, among others. So it seems the guest list rubbed a lot more people the wrong way than everyone thought.
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce
For those who don’t know, Kelce and Swift have been dating since July 2023, but didn’t make their romance known until months later, when Swift arrived at one of his games.
Then, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement two years later on Aug. 26 2025. Swift captioned a post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” revealing several pictures from the intimate moment surrounded by flowers in a garden that Kelce created.
And they got married on July 3 in a huge bash at MSG!
