Beatles legend Paul McCartney performed “I Want To Hold Your Hand” at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding Friday at Madison Square Garden, 62 years after it was last performed.
“After the ceremony, Taylor’s mom Andrea invited everyone into the reception room where the stage was set up,” a source reportedly told People.
People also reported that McCartney and Stevie Nicks both performed. McCartney performed the Beatles’ No. 1 hit, and according to Rolling Stone, the last known performance of “I Want To Hold Your Hand” was Sept. 20, 1964, at a Beatles concert at Paramount Theatre in New York. McCartney’s rep did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.
McCartney and Swift have had a long friendship. In 2020, they appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians, where the two singers spoke highly of each other’s work. Before that, they had performed together at various parties.
McCartney has also said he sees the “parallel” between the Beatles’ and Swift’s fame.
Swift and Kelce’s wedding was a star-studded event with more than 1,000 guests in attendance. Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, and other stars, like Gigi Hadid, Paul Rudd, Nelly, Conan O’Brien, Hugh Grant and more, were there to see the couple tie the knot. Swift’s brother, Austin, served as the Man of Honor, and Kelce’s brother, Jason, was the best man.
