The Heat 2 cast is finally starting to fall into place. One actor who would be perfect to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the Heat sequel is Inde Navarrette.
There have been several A-list actors rumored for key roles, and several stars are now close to officially signing on. According to TheWrap, DiCaprio and Christian Bale are set to star in Heat 2. TheWrap’s source says the deals have either already been closed or are in final negotiations.
DiCaprio will play Chris Shiherlis, the role originated by Val Kilmer. Chris is the main character of Heat 2. The story focuses on his time with Neil McCauley in 1988, the immediate events following Heat in 1995-1996, and his future transgressions working for a crime family in 2000. Meanwhile, Bale will play Vincent Hanna, the LAPD detective that Al Pacino depicted in the 1995 movie.
Adam Driver is being recruited to play the film’s villain, Wardell, while Stephen Graham is in talks to play Neil, the Robert De Niro role from the first movie.
As for the female roles, one of the top parts is Sharlene, Chris’ wife in Heat. Ashley Judd previously played the role. TheWrap reports many actresses are vying for the role, including “A-list names.” Could one of those actresses be Navarrette?
Who Inde Navarrette should be in Heat 2
During a recent interview with Nylon Magazine, Navarrette revealed that she recently met with Michael Mann. Though Nylon did not reveal what the meeting was for, it’s possible that Navarrette’s meeting was for a potential role in Mann’s Heat 2.
It’s unlikely Navarrette would play Sharlene because of the A-list qualifications. Navarrette is certainly a breakout star thanks to Obsession, but she has not reached the A-list. However, there are three female roles Navarette could play.
The first is Ana, Chris’ new love interest from the Taiwanese crime syndicate based in Paraguay. The second female role is Elisa, Neil’s girlfriend in 1988.
The third role, and my pick for who Navarrette could play, is Gabriela, Elisa’s daughter. While Elisa’s daughter is a young kid in 1988, she reappears in the 2000s timeline in her early 20s, making it the right age for Navarrette to play her.
This is purely speculation as of now, but casting a rising star like Navarrette to act alongside DiCaprio and Bale would be a smart decision from Mann. Navarrette’s fanbase from Obsession could help bring in a new, younger audience to Heat 2. It would also a great career move for Navarrette to be cast in a highly anticipated sequel like Heat 2.
