An Eras Tour dancer who attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding wore a pale pink dress to the nuptials—and her husband is coming to her defense amid criticism from fans who insisted that the dress was white.
Tori Evans, a professional dancer who danced with Swift onstage during her record-breaking tour, shared an Instagram Reel alongside her husband TJ Shaw on Saturday, July 4, in which the couple showed off their wedding guest looks. Evans wore a pale pink drop-waist, floor-length silk dress, paired with vibrant chartreuse pointed-toe heels and a coordinating silk scarf.
Shaw opted for a classic black tux paired with a black velvet bow tie for the wedding, which was held Friday, July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
In the comment section, some people said the dress’s color was too close to white to wear to a wedding.
“If you have to explain that ‘it’s not white, it’s pastel/cream/champagne shade],’ then the color is too close to the red line,” one person wrote.
“White to Taylor swifts wedding is insane,” another chimed in.
Shaw came to his wife’s defense in the comment section. “DRESS IS PINK CHAMPAGNE color for everyone that doesn’t understand lighting 😂,” he wrote.
The tradition of white wedding dresses dates back to the Victorian era, when Queen Victoria wed Prince Albert in 1840, according to Martha Stewart Weddings. This also marked the widely held tradition of wedding guests steering clear from wearing white, so as to honor the bride’s special milestone.

A source told PEOPLE exclusively that the 14-time Grammy winner and the NFL player, both 36, were “beaming” all night during their wedding, which featured a “whimsical” secret garden theme.

“A huge smile never left either of their faces,” the insider said, sharing that the “fun” ambience included “so many games,” a raffle and other “added excitement” for their guests.
“The whole evening felt very guest-centric,” the source said. “There was always something to do, see or play. There was never a dull moment.”
The wedding was officiated by Adam Sandler. Guests were provided with embroidered handkerchiefs embroidered with lyrics from Swift’s song “Blank Space” for any emotional moments throughout the evening. After the ceremony, attendees enjoyed performances from Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks.
