Rihanna happened to be in the right place at the right time for an empowering moment.
The Grammy winner was shopping for an upcoming barbecue on Monday when she met a woman named Robyn, who is living with cancer.
“I look terrible. I live with cancer. Can I take a picture with you?” the fan asked in a viral video shared by “Unlocked” host Jason Lee.
Rihanna immediately reassured her: “You don’t look terrible,” and posed for a photo.
Robyn then showed her a picture of herself wearing a wig. “Everyone knows me. I don’t have my wig on,” she said. Rihanna embraced her, noting they share the same name.
“You know what I live for … a good hairline, honey,” said the singer, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
“And your name’s Robyn, like mine,” she added, crouching down for the camera. “Thank you. Big fan of yours.”
Robyn continued, “Actually, this is what I look like with my wig,” she said as she showed Rihanna a photo.
“You’re going to say, ‘You’re a true Robyn.'”
Rihanna encouraged her to embrace her natural look. “You know what I live for? A good hairline, honey. This is what I like to see,” she said, gesturing to Robyn’s hair. “Anytime you meet anybody, don’t do that s—. You’re fire just like that.”
The alleged Rihanna shooter has her day in court, but is she mentally competent to stand trial? Ivanna Lisette Ortiz faces attempted murder charges and more than a dozen other felonies after shooting at least 20 bullets into and near Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s home. On June 3, her case was brought to a mental health court as A$AP opens about how he and his partner are coping following the shooting on “The Vibe Q” podcast.
“Can I quote you?” the fan asked.
“Hell yeah! Verbatim,” Rihanna replied.
“See you on the tube!” Robyn said as they wrapped up.
“Don’t ever do that again,” Rihanna told her. “You’re fire as is.”
“Thank you. You make me feel good,” the fan said.
