New Jersey Friends of Clearwater will host the 51st New Jersey Clearwater Festival on Aug. 22-23 at Bradley Park in Asbury Park. Saturday runs noon to 10 p.m. Sunday goes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tickets cost $5. Kids under 10 enter at no charge.
This festival marks over half a century of tunes and work to safeguard waterways. Clean Ocean Action co-sponsors it, and MES Event Services handles production. Pete Seeger’s work as a folk musician and champion for nature sparked this annual gathering.
“The NJ Clearwater Festival is an opportunity to celebrate our history while inspiring the next generation of environmental advocates,” said Chrissie Goedcoop, President of NJ Friends of Clearwater, according to the New Jersey Stage. “We are excited to bring together music lovers, families, environmental organizations, and community partners for a weekend that reflects the values that have guided our mission for more than fifty years and celebrates the best of New Jersey’s vibrant cultural and musical community.”
Bob Killian started the group back in 1975. He helped Seeger launch the 106-foot Clearwater tall ship and played on several of his records.
The work continues Seeger’s idea of using songs, teaching, and action to safeguard rivers, oceans, bays, and waterways. For over 50 years, this group has spread the word while pushing people to protect what nature provides.
Clean Ocean Action works to boost water quality off the coast. Research, teaching, and citizen action bring people together to shield the ocean.
Live music fills the weekend. Food trucks serve up meals. An adult beverage garden opens for visitors. Craft vendors and sellers of merchandise will have booths scattered across the grounds.
Kids can join in programming and activities designed just for them. Sustainability demonstrations and teaching exhibits show visitors how conservation works. Groups working to protect nature will offer programs and chances to volunteer.
Bradley Park sits across from the boardwalk at Convention Hall. MES Event Services has run other events there, including the 2025 Asbury Park Halloween Festival. They’ll also produce the 2026 Seafood & BBQ Festival and Halloween Festival at this spot.
