Despite inviting over 1,000 people to her high-profile wedding with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, billionaire pop star Taylor Swift snubbed several important people in her life. Notably absent were Swift’s five godchildren, including Leo Thames, the son of actress Jaime King.
When fans noticed his absence, rumors began circulating that the “Blank Space” singer’s friendship with King was over. Owen added, “The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances.”
Swift and King became fast friends after meeting at a 2014 Golden Globes party. Their bond quickly grew, and when the Hart of Dixie star gave birth to Leo in 2015, she asked the Grammy winner to be his godmother. “I always knew she was going to be the godmother if I had another baby,” King told Elle at the time, adding that Swift is “incredibly thoughtful.”
“Choosing a godmother is a very sacred and important thing in our family. That’s why I feel like she’s going to be the perfect godmother.”
Nearly a decade later, however, King and Swift are no longer in touch. “Taylor and Jaime are not close anymore and don’t talk but there is still love,” a source told The U.S. Sun in 2025. Still, Swift sends Leo gifts for his birthday and would “be there in a heartbeat” if he ever needed her.
“She has always taken her godmother role and duties very seriously and is the most caring and thoughtful person Jaime could’ve asked to be there for Leo,” the source said. “But their relationship is a lot different now than it was back when Jaime asked Taylor to be his godmother. There is no regular contact.”
