Gina Rodriguez and Brett Dier publicly supported Justin Baldoni after his first statement following his settlement with Blake Lively
The Jane the Virgin stars commented on Justin’s emotional Instagram video, in which he reflected on healing with his wife, Emily
Both Rodriguez and Dier have previously spoken out in support of their former costar during his legal battle
Justin Baldoni is receiving support from two of his former Jane the Virgin costars following his first public remarks after reaching a settlement in his legal dispute with Blake Lively.
After Justin shared an emotional Instagram video with his wife, Emily Baldoni, on Wednesday, July 8, reflecting on the toll the past two years have taken on their family, former costars Gina Rodriguez and Brett Dier were among those offering words of encouragement in the comments.
“♥️ love you friends. Por vida,” Rodriguez wrote.
“I love you guys ❤️❤️,” Dier added.
The supportive comments came after Justin and his wife broke their silence in a video posted on Instagram, sharing that they had intentionally remained quiet throughout the legal proceedings.
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say,” Justin said in the video.
“Because lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to,” he continued. “It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it.”
“This feels like the moment,” Emily added. “There’s so much to say.”
While the couple did not address every aspect of the legal proceedings, and did not mention Lively by name, they spoke about the emotional toll the experience had taken on their family.
Emily said they had experienced “a lot of trauma,” while Justin explained that they intentionally chose not to respond publicly because they wanted “the justice system run its course” instead of contributing to “the noise.”
“We are healing,” Justin said. “If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters. It’s this. It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community, who have been there for us, it’s our faith.”
He added that he and Emily have grown “closer, more devoted, and steadfast in our faith than we’ve ever been.”

The couple’s message came two months after attorneys representing Justin and Lively announced they had reached a settlement, bringing an end to their legal dispute stemming from the 2024 film It Ends with Us before the case was set to go to trial.
In a joint statement released on May 4, attorneys for both sides said, “The end product, the movie It Ends With Us, is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors, and all survivors, is a goal that we stand behind.”
The statement continued, “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
A federal judge ruled last month that Lively is entitled to attorneys’ fees related to a since-dismissed counterclaim filed by Baldoni, but that any claim for treble or punitive damages would have to be pursued through a separate lawsuit or counterclaim. Nearly three weeks later, on June 30, Lively’s lawyers made a statement following the actress’ filing seeking over $8 million in legal fees.
Rodriguez and Dier have each voiced their support for Justin before.
In September 2024, Rodriguez called Justin “my brother forever” in an interview with PEOPLE, adding that he was “hands down the person I stay in touch with the most” from Jane the Virgin.
Responding to her comments at the time, Justin said they “came at a very special time” and meant “a lot.”
“She really showed up for me,” he said. “That was really sweet.”

Dier also spoke about Justin last year while acknowledging he had frequently been asked about the actor’s legal case.
“I probably shouldn’t say much, but I’ll say this: I always loved Justin,” Dier said in an interview for the Fan Mail newsletter. “He’s always been an amazing friend to me.”
He added that he was “just hoping everything resolves in time.”
The trio starred together on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, which aired from 2014 to 2019. The series followed Jane Villanueva, played by Rodriguez, whose life is unexpectedly upended after she is accidentally artificially inseminated. Justin portrayed Rafael Solano, while Dier played Michael Cordero Jr., the two rival love interests at the center of Jane’s romantic journey.
