And if the non-stop coverage of Swift’s nuptials is just too much for you, Meghan McCain agrees.
The former The View host took to X earlier in the week (four days after “the” wedding), reposting a TMZ story about Kelce’s teammate’s wife reportedly winning a $6,700 Chanel bag at the MSG affair. But McCain wasn’t exactly sharing the article. Instead, she was trolling the relentless media attention surrounding the star-studded event.
Along with the repost, McCain wrote, “Please stop telling me things about this wedding.” And based on the replies, the Internet agrees.
One X user pointed out, “Honestly unless you’re 12, who really cares about this wedding and the two of them. I wish them well…now please go away,” while others wrote, “OMG thank you!!!! I’ve tried to block it. I’ve tried to change my algorithm. Nothing works. These two faces keep showing up on my feed. Make it stop”, “It’s truly nauseating, I completely ignore” and, “Garish, vulgar, over the top display, of yet another gazillionaire celebrity three ring circus nuptials.”
Of course, Meghan’s post did spark a bit of a backlash. While none of the comments were outright clapbacks, some did question McCain, responding to her with, “Girl, are you ok? Who’s forcing you to listen?”, “No one is forcing you to watch any of it. Geesh, you really seem to favor censorship,” and “Nobody’s telling you anything. X knows you’re interested and the info finds you.”
Then there were the comments about the repost. “Who has a raffle at their wedding – donations and opposite of intimate and loving”, “Now this is elitism at its finest. A raffle of a 6,700 thousand dollar purse at a wedding,” and “Right! Who cares and how tacky to win a bag at a wedding” were just a few of the reactions featured in the thread.
Meghan and her X followers aren’t the only ones who feel a certain way about the Swift-Kelce wedding coverage. Some Redditors expressed obvious annoyance over the event before it actually happened.
On June 30 (Taylor’s ceremony was on July 3), a Redditor asked fans, “Is anyone else getting tired of hearing about Taylor Swift’s wedding?” Responses ranged from “Tired of hearing about Swift at all, and all celebrity news. It could not be any less important” to “I’m tired of it all. If you say you’re not a fan, then you’re a hater. Ugh. Enough already.”
