There have been multiple outlets claiming that Blake Lively wasn’t invited to her former best friend Taylor Swift’s wedding due to an alleged falling out over Swift being dragged into Lively’s years-long legal battle with her It Ends With Us director and co-star, Justin Baldoni. However, a new report says otherwise.
According to NewsNation, Lively and her husband, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, were invited to Swift’s nuptials with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Sources told the outlet that the Gossip Girl actress and “Bad Blood” singer are on speaking terms again, but they’re not as close as they used to be. And so, Lively chose to skip the multi-day extravaganza.
“Blake did the right thing and decided not to attend,” a source said, adding that she and Reynolds “didn’t want to take the attention away from Taylor” and create a “big spectacle” on her special day. Instead, the couple—who married in 2012 and share four kids—headed to Upstate New York to cheer on their youngest daughter, Betty, in a horse show.
“It was the right thing to do,” the insider added. “Also, it would have been awkward, and Blake and Ryan are trying to keep a low profile right now.”
NewsNation’s report comes amid claims that Lively is struggling to accept that she and Swift are not the BFFs they once were. “Blake did her best to hold her head high through this and act as though it was just any other weekend but it’s been absolutely devastating for her because it’s forced her to accept that this chapter of her life really is over,” a separate source told Star.
The insider claimed that Lively “got her hopes up because she’d give anything to fix” their friendship, but it seems beyond repair. The source added that Reynolds has been “doing everything he can” to support Lively and keep her spirits high during this difficult time. “But it’s just very, very hard, especially because there’s this underlying fear that this is going to haunt her forever.”
