My recent Thai breakdown of 15-year-old Nene Royal’s America’s Got Talent audition exploded, pulling in over 142,000 views in just a day – and there’s good reason. The response from Thailand was phenomenal, but this story needs to be told on a global scale so today I’m doing it in English.
First things first: for everyone asking, her name is pronounced “Neh-Nêh” (เนเน่).
That explosive moment on the AGT stage was not a lucky accident. It was the result of serious hard work and a deeply rooted musical foundation. In this video, we pull back the curtain to look at her history.
We’ll take a look at her incredible guitar chops, looking at her covers of Deep Purple, Avenged Sevenfold, and Vinnie Moore. We also look at the crucial support system behind her. Her father, Khun Aek, and her fellow band members in Ozone have been instrumental in building the raw, unapologetic presence you saw captivate Simon Cowell. I strongly suspect we will see the rest of the Ozone crew hitting this level of international stardom very soon.
We also look at exactly how she owned the room. She didn’t try to hide her Thai accent or put on a fake persona. She walked on projecting a polite, quiet energy, and then completely shattered expectations the second her vocals kicked in.
