Arthur Fery has invited the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales to play tennis with him.
The professional athlete, who turns 24 on Sunday, stunned tennis fans this year to become the first British wildcard to reach The Championship’s semi-finals in Wimbledon’s history.
Speaking to the Princess before she attended the Gentlemen’s Singles final with her husband, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, he said: “I hear your children play tennis a lot…if you guys want to hit some balls anytime, that would be great.”
The Princess, who also handed Fery a birthday card from the family, responded: “Thank you, do you get some downtime now?”
She also told him he did a “fantastic” job to reach the semi-finals, in which he lost to World No 2 Alexander Zverev on Centre Court, adding that it was a “very impressive” run.
Speaking to the Wales family on the players’ lawn before the final, Fery said: “Thanks a lot, I’m so pleased, it was a great two weeks.
“I’m so glad that I got to spend so much time here and thank you for coming.”
