Kansas City Royals MLB Draft tracker for Day 2: Rounds 5-20

The Kansas City Royals are back on the clock for Day 2 of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.

On Sunday, the Royals will make 16 selections between Rounds 5-20 of the MLB Draft. The newest prospects will join the KC organization this summer.

The Royals are already off to an intriguing start. The club selected University of Louisville outfielder Zion Rose in the first round. Rose, 21, is an advanced hitter with the potential to add power to his game.

As a former catcher, Rose transitioned to an outfield role. He hit .417 with six home runs and 47 RBIs in 36 games last season.

The Royals rounded out their Day 1 selections by taking RHP Taylor Rabe (No. 30), RHP Jack Slightom (No. 56), LHP Maxx Yehl (No. 91) and OF Dominic Battista (No. 119).

Here’s a look at the Royals’ Day 2 selections:

5th Round: LHP Ethan McElvain | Vanderbilt

Ethan McElvain spent one season at the University of Arkansas after beginning his college career at Vanderbilt. In his lone season as a Razorback, McElvain posted a perfect 6-0 record with a 1.88 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances.

After his stellar junior year, McElvain was also named to the All-SEC second team.

6th Round: LHP Justin LeGuernic | Clemson

Justin LeGuernic, a National Pitcher of the Year Watch List member, finished the season with a 4-2 record, three saves and a 4.69 ERA in 19 relief appearances and 40 1/3 innings pitched for Clemson.

7th Round: RHP Dylan Vigue | Georgia

Dylan Vigue spent two seasons at Michigan before transferring to Georgia and helping the Bulldogs achieve one of their best seasons in program history, as they finished 53-14, won the SEC regular-season and tournament championships and tied for third at the College World Series.

Vigue appeared in 18 games, and finished the season with a 4-1 record, 4.43 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched.

8th Round: LHP Hunter Possehl | Florida Gulf Coast

After posting a 7.32 ERA in 10 appearances in his redshirt-freshman season, left-handed pitcher Hunter Possehl bounced back in his sophomore season, starting 14 games for FGCU and posting a 3.21 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 67 innings of work. Possehl’s sophomore season earned the 6-8 starter a place on the A-Sun’s All-Conference second team.

9th Round: 3B Camden Johnson | Oklahoma

Camden Johnson played two seasons at Wichita State before transferring to Oklahoma, where he finished with 73 hits, nine home runs, 48 RBIs and a .293 batting average. He led the team in runs scored with 63 and stole 31 bases, which ranked 12th in school history for a single season. His play helped Oklahoma win the Men’s College World Series for the first time since 1994.

10th Round: RHP Grant Fontenot | LSU

After starting his college baseball journey at LSU as a redshirt freshman, Grant Fontenot pitched at McLennan Community College and spent a year at the University of Texas before returning to LSU in 2025. In his final go-round with the Tigers, he appeared in 21 games, starting four, and posted a 4.18 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings pitched.

11th Round: OF Tanner Griffith | Saint Mary’s

As a junior, Tanner Griffith started all 62 games for Saint Mary’s and finished the season with a .342 batting average, .477 on base percentage, 72 hits and five home runs. His stellar play led to All-WCC second team and WCC Tournament Team selections in 2026.

On June 26, he announced that he’d committed to TCU to play his final year in college.

12th Round: RHP Lance Hartley | College of Central Florida

Lance Hartley appeared in five games at the College of Central Florida, starting four of them. In 16 innings, the JUCO product posted a 3.38 era, allowed just nine hits and struck out 22 batters. He had a 2-0 record before undergoing Tommy John surgery in the spring.

Hartley initially committed to University of South Carolina for the 2026-27 season but announced he was reopening his recruitment on June 19th.

13th Round: RHP Dalton Hill | Nicholls State

Dalton Hill, a native of Stonewall, Louisiana, pitched at Northeast Texas Community College before transferring to Nicholls. As a senior, he posted a 1.35 ERA in 20 innings pitched across 17 appearances. He allowed a .147 opponent batting average and just 10 hits.

14th Round: C Banks Wickersham | Fort Dorchester HS (South Carolina)

Banks Wickersham is an 18-year-old catcher from North Charleston, South Carolina. He is the second-ranked catcher and ninth-ranked player in North Carolina according to Perfect Game and is currently committed to the College of Charleston.

Wickersham finished his high school season at Fort Dorchester High School with a .459 batting average, 11 doubles and 16 RBIs.

15th Round: Madden Clement LHP | Virginia Tech

Madden Clement, a native of Butler, Pennsylvania, appeared in eight games for the Hokies in 2026 and posted a 3.95 ERA, striking out 13 batters in 13 2/3 innings pitched. He missed most of the 2026 campaign returning from an arm injury. Clement initially entered the transfer portal on June 6.

16th Round: RHP Dylan Alonso | Troy University

In his lone season with Troy, Alonso appeared in 28 games, splitting time as a starter and reliever. Alonso finished his junior year with a 4-3 record and posted a 5.11 ERA with 60 strikeouts, while also accumulating seven saves in 28 total appearances.

Prior to his year with the Trojans, Alonso pitched at Columbia State Community College. As a sophomore he posted a 7-3 record with a 5.17 ERA and 87 strikeouts. He earned All-TCAA first-team honors.

17th Round: RHP Richie Roman | Houston

Richie Roman, a Texas native, grew up three hours away from Houston. As a reliever for the Cougars, he appeared in 13 games as a junior and finished with a 2-1 record. In 30 innings pitched, he posted a 3.86 ERA and 31 strikeouts.

18th Round: LHP Cooper Corkrean | New Mexico

In Corkrean’s lone season at New Mexico, he appeared in 21 games and posted a 5.49 ERA with 59 strikeouts. The southpaw split time as a starter and reliever. He made two starts, accumulated a 6-2 record and earned four saves. Corkrean’s success earned him a spot on the All-Mountain West second team.

On June 1, Corkrean announced his decision to enter the transfer portal and has committed to the University of Kentucky for 2026-27.

19th Round: RHP Hudson DeVaughan | Mooresville High School (Indiana)

Hudson DeVaughan is a right-handed pitcher from Mooresville, Indiana, and is committed to the University of Alabama. He was the 142nd-ranked pitcher in the nation according to PBR and the 159th overall player in the class of 2026.

DeVaughan is the son of two high-level athletes. His father, Derek, played baseball at Florida before being selected in the 23rd round of the 1997 MLB Draft. His mother, Heather, played volleyball at Florida.

20th Round: RHP Riley McDonald | State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota

In Riley McDonald’s lone season at State College of Florida, he appeared in 21 games, posting a 5.51 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings pitched. McDonald started five games and accumulated a record of 5-1 while also registering five saves.

He was previously ranked as the 21st-ranked pitcher and 91st overall prospect in the state of Florida in the class of 2025.
