There’s something for everyone this weekend in the Austin area, including a free summer music festival, World Environment Day celebrations and outdoor production of “Singin’ in the Rain.” Here are six events for locals to attend from July 17-19.

Zilker Theatre Productions “Singin’ in the Rain”
Zilker Theatre Productions will host its 67th annual summer show, “Singin’ in the Rain” at Zilker Hillside Theatre. The family-friendly production is free and open to the public every Thursday-Sunday.
Hot Summer Nights
The Red River Cultural District will host its annual free summer music festival with performances at Chess Club, Kingdom, Stubb’s, Swan Dive and more. The festival will also include a Hot Summer Night Market on July 18 at Liberty Lunch by Future Front Texas.
Party for the Planet
The family-friendly event celebrates World Environment Day. There will be a DJ, a foam party, environmental education and crafts.
Kids Day at Community Gardens
Geared toward kids having fun, the day will include a foam party, dunk tank, waterslides, snacks and more.
Artemis Generation: NASA’s Next Giant Leap
Guests can learn about Nasa’s Artemis program and the future of human exploration on the moon, presented by NASA specialist Tyler Hines.

From Balconies to Backyards
Hosted by the Good Water Master Naturalist Chapter, the 2026 event will have the theme “Taking care of what you have,” and feature keynote speaker John Hart Asher, host of the Austin PBS Central Texas Gardener show. Topics include coexisting with minifauna, climate resilience and doing less for more birds and butterflies.
