Collin Gosselin has joined the cast of Special Forces season 5
His return to reality TV comes three years after his estranged mother, Kate Gosselin, appeared on the same show
The casting follows the announcement of Collin’s upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood
Collin Gosselin will be making his return to reality TV.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 22, has boarded the cast of Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test for its fifth season. His casting comes three years after his mother, Kate Gosselin, appeared in the show’s first season.
On Wednesday, July 15, Fox announced the latest batch of celebrity recruits to take on training exercises.
Alongside Collin, other contestants include Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure, Orange is the New Black actress Ruby Rose, former U.S. Rep. George Santos, NBA champion Matt Barnes, champion boxer Alycia Baumgardner, Baywatch alum David Charvet, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville, actor Oliver Hudson, Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy, Olympian Maxim Naumov, comedian Hannah Stocking, Selling Sunset’s Breana Tiesi, and father-daughter duo Alexia Umansky and Mauricio Umansky.

Per Fox, the new season enlists “a new troop of household names to endure some of the harshest, most grueling challenges from the playbook of the actual Special Forces selection process.”
Former operatives of Directing Staff (DS) Rudy Reyes, Billy Billingham, Jason “Foxy” Fox and Jovon “Q” Quarles will lead their training as the recruits will be deployed in Malaysia to endure “the world’s toughest test in the most hostile environment a soldier could operate in … the jungle,” per a synopsis.

“Recruits must adapt to uncomfortable conditions, unpredictable terrain and harsh jungle warfare tasks, including a claustrophobic, high-pressure search of an underground bunker to find crucial military weapons; a supply load retrieval while suspended 300 feet above the jungle floor; endure a barrage of chemical gassing while retrieving coordinates of an enemy vessel; and much more,” the description reads.

“In this experiment, there are no votes and no eliminations — just survival. These celebrities, who are so used to being in the spotlight, will quickly learn the meaning of ‘no guts, no glory’ — and no glam.”
Collin’s casting comes three years after his estranged mom Kate, 51, was eliminated from season 1 of the grueling show after sustaining an injury in the first episode.

Collin, who has accused Kate of mistreating him during his childhood, recently announced his memoir, titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, which will be released Oct. 13. Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin, who divorced in 2009, starred alongside their children in Jon & Kate Plus 8. Kate was initially awarded custody of their eight children after the split— twins Cara and Madelyn, 25, and sextuplets Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, Joel and Hannah.
Collin’s book “forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life,” he wrote in an announcement post.
Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, premieres Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
