The Olympic figure skater stepped out for the 2026 ESPYS in New York City on Wednesday, July 15, turning heads on the red carpet in a goth-glam look.
Liu appeared in a plunging black halter gown with a draped bodice and short train. She showed off a lower back tattoo in the daring look while accessorizing with a matching black cross choker. The Olympic gold medalist also wore her signature striped hair in an elegant updo with face-framing pieces.
She kept her makeup simple and natural, with pink blush and a nude lip.

This year’s ESPYS are being hosted by comedian and Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández.
Liu won the prize for Best Breakthrough Athlete at this year’s show. She edged out San Jose Sharks player Macklin Celebrini, New England Patriots player Drake Maye and college football star turned Las Vegas Raiders rookie Fernando Mendoza.
Liu’s breakthrough moment came earlier this year, when she made history at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The double gold medalist secured an individual gold in the women’s singles event — the first American woman to do so in 24 years. Capping off a remarkable comeback since her 2022 retirement, she also helped Team USA secure a gold medal in the team event.

Earlier this year, Liu made her Met Gala debut. For fashion’s biggest night in May, Liu opted for a dramatic Louis Vuitton gown. The deep red design featured a full satin and tulle skirt and a strapless top.
“I like how the skirt is so voluminous,” Liu told Vogueat the time. “The shape is so unique, and I like how it is shorter in front and then longer in the back. I also love the color, since I like wearing dark reds a lot. It’s so Chinese — it’s a lucky color!”
Days later, she stepped out for the American Music Awards, where she went a different route with her style. The Olympian donned an edgy look — complete with a leather jacket and black skirt, and her black gelled nails even featured nail jewelry — which was very cohesive with her signature “smiley” lip piercing. At the show, she announced the winner of Best Rock/Alternative Artist, handing the trophy to Twenty One Pilots.
