He continued, “I know they’ve gotten so much crap for doing it at Madison Square Garden, but show me another place where they could have a private moment like anybody else would deserve to have at a wedding, where they don’t have helicopters and hot air balloons and dirigibles floating over them trying to get video.”
The actor and his wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, were blown away by how “fantastical” yet “normal” Swift and Kelce’s wedding actually felt inside the New York City arena.
“Given we’ve been to a lot of weddings where there are lots of things the bride does and lots of things the groom does, we just felt like they created a night that felt normal in these extraordinary situations,” he said. “We were just happy for them.”
Stonestreet also admitted that, like many others, he and his wife initially thought that the wedding invitation they received was spam. “When we got the invitation, we were very careful. We couldn’t verify with anybody,” he said. “We just had to trust it was real because I wasn’t breaking any rules, and Lindsay wasn’t either.”

The actor, who has known Kelce “for a while,” said that he’s been overjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and “Blank Space” singer’s love story unfold.
“When they started dating, I was just so excited for him. I was really excited for Taylor because I knew she had just met a guy she’d never met before,” Stonestreet said. “I wasn’t following her love life; Lindsay was a little bit, but I knew she had met her match and Travis had met his.”
He added, “They’re perfect for each other, and just to be there and witness it and see the period to that sentence that started three years ago was just awesome.”
Stonestreet confirmed on July 4 via an Instagram post that he attended Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
“I guess I can say now. We were at a wedding in New York City last night,” he wrote. “Two truly special people found each other and what a joy to be able to celebrate them. And also, Lindsay is so hot.”
Other stars in attendance on the evening include Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, the Haim sisters, and more.
The event also featured a performance from Swift, as well as many of their musician attendees like Avril Lavigne, Stevie Nicks, and McCartney.
