Carly Rae Jepsen is back with “After All,” the latest new song off her upcoming double album Day and Night.
With a soft, soulful approach — think Jungle or Khruangbin — “After All” leaves any sense of pop sheen behind for a sound that feels warm, lived in, and luxurious. Jepsen coos over skittering drums and delicate piano touches, with a backing choir eventually rising in for the song’s light, lively chorus; they provide some extraverted energy, but overall, “After All” is more about the subtle glow that Jepsen conjures. The song also arrives with a music video featuring a very pregnant Jepsen reveling in sunlight as she reflects on a prior night’s dinner party; the video was filmed prior to the birth of Jepsen’s daughter in March of this year. “After All” is the second single off Day and Night following last month’s “On Wires.” Day and Night, a 24-track double album themed around (you guessed it) daytime and nighttime, will arrive on September 18th; it’s Jepsen’s first new album since 2023’s The Loveliest Time.
