A fresh batch of queer artists has arrived with music and tour dates to kick your weekend off right.
From Adam Lambert’s long-awaited new album to REDD.’s deeply personal new single and Erin LeCount’s debut Australian tour, there’s plenty to keep your headphones busy this week.
Here’s what deserves a spot in your rotation.
Erin LeCount is bringing her haunting pop to Australia
One of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists is making her Australian debut this August.
After building a devoted global following with her ethereal blend of gothic pop, electronic production and deeply personal songwriting, Erin LeCount is bringing The Pareidolia Shows to intimate venues in Melbourne and Sydney.
The self-produced artist has been turning heads with her latest EP PAREIDOLIA, featuring tracks including ALICE, MACHINE GHOST and 808 HYMN.
Often compared to artists like Florence + The Machine, Ethel Cain and Kate Bush, LeCount has carved out a sound that feels entirely her own.
Fans can catch her at Melbourne’s Forum II Upstairs on August 3 before she heads to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on August 7.
Adam Lambert enters a bold new era with ADAM
Adam Lambert is back with his sixth studio album, ADAM, and it’s his most personal release yet.
Out now, the self-titled record leans into ’90s alternative music and electronic influences while showcasing the powerhouse vocals Lambert has become famous for. Across 12 tracks, he explores identity, love, vulnerability and self-expression without being boxed into a single genre.
The music video for Cloud 9 has also been released this week. It features Lambert wearing Alexander McQueen’s iconic “Dante” mask, giving a striking mix of fashion, nostalgia and futuristic imagery.
More than 15 years after first capturing audiences on American Idol, Lambert continues to evolve while remaining one of pop’s most proudly queer voices.
REDD. kicks off a fearless new chapter with life
Australian artist REDD. is back with a new single life.
Written alongside acclaimed producer Dan Carey, the track explores gender dysphoria, identity and the sometimes messy process of discovering who you are. Musically, it bounces between angular new wave, synth-pop and something entirely its own.
The chorus bops along to the lyrics “stitching all the pieces that make me.”
REDD. expanded on these lyrics, saying, “I believe that’s what a huge part of life is. Learning, experiencing and discovering new things about who you are, to create and form your sense of self.”
To celebrate, REDD. is throwing two free launch parties before heading overseas for European shows and festival appearances. Fans can catch them at Melbourne’s Lulie Tavern on July 17 and Sydney’s Dead Set on July 18.
With millions of streams, a growing international fanbase and a reputation for fearless creativity, REDD. continues to prove they’re one of Australia’s most intriguing emerging queer artists.
Your playlist just got a whole lot gayer
Whether you’re counting down the days to see Erin LeCount live, diving into Adam Lambert’s latest era or blasting REDD.’s newest single on repeat, there’s no shortage of incredible queer music news landing this week.
Happy listening.
