Trump welcomes King Charles and Queen Camilla to the White House
King Charles III and Queen Camilla landed in the United States, kicking off the first state visit by a British monarch since 2007.
Happy Birthday, Queen Camilla!
To celebrate the queen turning 79, Buckingham Palace released a new photo July 17.
The photo of the queen was taken last month in the state drawing room of Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.
In the image, Camilla wears a bright blue dress and a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch, which was presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1977.
The queen, who has been married to Charles since 2005, was born in 1947 as Camilla Rosemary Shand.
While Camilla is heading for the big 8-0 she has not showed any signs of slowing down.
In April, she embarked on a four-day state visit to the U.S. with King Charles, where they were welcomed by President Trump at the White House before undertaking a series of engagements across the pond.
Over the summer Camilla has been just as busy. In June she attended Trooping the Colour, to mark husband King Charles’ official birthday. That same month, Camilla and Charles attended the wedding of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, who is the king’s nephew.
But even at a family wedding the king and queen could not escape their royal responsibilities. The pair had to make a quick dash via helicopter to get from the family wedding to the Epsom Derby in time to present the winner’s trophy.
Camilla has also been present wearing her finery at Ascot, cheering from the stands alongside Charles. Earlier this month, she braved an intense British heatwave to attend Wimbledon with her sister, Annabel Elliott.
While the queen has also undertaken various public engagements, she has also made time to handle private family matters. Earlier this month Camilla and King Charles were reunited with Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
While in the U.K. for a brief visit, the pair brought their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, to the King’s private country residence Highgrove.
The meeting marked the first time the King and queen had been with the Sussex family since 2022.
