At Spare Time Texas in Pflugerville, the focus isn’t just on offering premium attractions; it’s on providing a space where visitors can spend an entire day escaping the Texas heat, without worrying about how quickly the bill adds up.
“Affordable fun is our goal and our mindset,” marketing manager Bryan Rose said. “We’re always thinking about how we can provide as much value for families as we can.”
That philosophy shaped one of the company’s biggest changes this year: expanding its popular All You Can Play promotion into an offering that’s available Monday through Friday, from open to close.
Turning a seasonal favorite into a year-round offering
For years, Spare Time Texas offered its All You Can Play special during holidays and school breaks. This special allowed guests to enjoy bowling, laser tag and arcade games for a set period during the day.
After listening to consistent feedback from guests, the Pflugerville entertainment center expanded the concept into a permanent fixture. Now, families can purchase an all-you-can-play weekday wristband, allowing them to play for any amount of time; they can even leave and return later.
“We don’t want someone to have to budget just so they can come see us,” Rose said.
Giving kids a free way to play
The center’s dedication to affordability extends to its specialized summer programming. Each summer, children ages 5-14 can participate in the Summer Fun Pass, which offers one completely free activity every weekday before 5 p.m.
Recognizing that children have diverse interests, the program allows kids to choose their own adventure each visit, selecting between a game of bowling (including free shoe rentals), a round of laser tag or a 30-minute unlimited arcade card that can also be used for virtual reality games.
Additionally, if parents want to stay with their children, they can do so at no cost.
Some families visit only a handful of times throughout the summer, while others stop by dozens of times. Either way, Rose said the goal remains the same:
“We’re trying to give people a safe space indoors, with free activities to keep kids and parents occupied without having to spend money for everything,” he said.
Group outings, events and elevated dining
In addition to bowling, arcade games and laser tag, Spare Time Texas is a destination for group outings, corporate events and celebrations of all sizes.
Visitors can book axe-throwing lanes at the most affordable price in Texas that Rose has seen through his research.
In the VIP Pin House area, there is a bowling system called “Unreal,” which projects customized animations directly onto the lanes. Corporate and private groups can incorporate their own logos, colors and branding at no additional cost on top of their event package.
With six party rooms featuring retractable walls that can expand into a banquet hall, the venue hosts everything from birthday parties to full-building buyouts for organizations, including the City of Pflugerville and Dell.
Their full-service restaurant serves chef-curated menu items, prepared by the same culinary team that operates a high-volume catering business, Shakers Catering. Because of this, guests receive the same quality food, whether they’re attending a banquet or dining in the restaurant.
A year-round community destination
Spare Time Texas serves as a gathering place for the community year-round.
The entertainment center hosts monthly themed trivia nights and partners with school districts in Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown and Hutto for spirit nights, field trips, youth camps, booster club events and sports banquets.
