The recent clash between events promoter Abitex and comedian Senga Nantume following the comedy festival has sparked widespread debate in the Ugandan entertainment industry.
Abitex expressed disappointment over a poorly attended comedy festival and publicly accused Senga Nantume of indiscipline for demanding her balance post-show, with some alleging the promoter is seeking public sympathy or funds.
Senga Nantume’s Response Clarified the agreed fee was 2 million UGX with 1 million UGX paid upfront. She stated Abitex avoided paying the remaining balance after the show, forcing her to raise an alarm.
Senga Nantume noted this is the fourth time Abitex has allegedly failed to pay her on time after a booking and after performance and she couldn’t tolerate this injustice from the promoter. Also Nantume advised the family of kafeero exclude Papa Mesearch Semakakula out of their family wrangles
