Liam Gallagher has responded to fans’ requests for a new Oasis album, saying that new music isn’t on the way anytime soon.

The Britpop giants haven’t released an album since 2008’s ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, although fans have become increasingly hopeful for new music following their 2024 reunion and huge ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates.

In 2024, shortly after news of the comeback, Liam Gallagher got fans talking when he said that he and his brother Noel had a new album on the way that was “already finished” and “in the bag”, and he stirred the pot again later that year by saying on X that he was “blown away” by the music his new brother was working on for the record.

That November, he admitted that he was trolling fans with the comments, confirming that there is “no Oasis album in the making” and adding: “I was fucking joking… and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days. I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”

Despite that, he then fanned flames again in 2025 after band’s manager Alex McKinlay said in an interview that there were definitely “no plan for any new music”.

Shortly after those comments, Liam said that “the only people making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID [Noel]” and jokingly dismissed McKinlay as being their “accountant”.

Now though, Liam has opened up about why he and the rest of the band are not motivated by the idea of making a new album, sharing that the immense pressure and hype around new material is somewhat off-putting.

When a fan reached out and said “Oasis new album please please please, I’m sorry but I think the new album will actually change lives,” the iconic frontman gave the blunt response: “NO I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the first hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit. Let’s just do some gigs and be happy, thank you.”

He also replied to another user who agreed with his initial statement and shared that people would likely just complain if it didn’t sound exactly like their other records. “Exactly,” Liam added. “Momma didn’t raise no fool there mad for putting the boot in but can’t if the gigs are great”.

He also spoke to one fan who asked hypothetically what the album might sound like if they did commit to it. “I’d like to think it’d still sound like an oasis and we hadn’t turned into a bunch of electronic umbrellas trying so desperately to keep up with the KIDS do you get me bruv,” Liam replied.

For a moment, it looked like new Oasis music could be on the cards earlier this year when Liam was spotted walking out of the iconic Abbey Road recording studio in North London, and told fans online: “I’M A SINGER I SING SONGS THATS WHAT I DO”.

While some were quick to speculate that it could point to a new Oasis album, later that day, The Stone Roses’ John Squire was also seen outside the same studio, igniting talk that the sessions are in fact part of a follow-up to their 2024 collaboration.

When pressed on why he was at Abbey Road, the singer told fans: “I can’t tell you what I’m doing for security reasons and the national health service what I can tell you is it’s fucking BIBLICAL”.

Earlier this year, Noel revealed that he too was “in the studio”, though it remains unclear whether he was working on new Oasis music or solo material with the High Flying Birds.

Although it looks like hopes of a new Oasis album are slim, there have been consistent hints dropped by Liam suggesting that a 2027 Oasis tour is on the cards.

Already he has told a fan on social media that Oasis will “without a doubt, 100 per cent” be playing live in Rome in 2027, and shared tweets saying “Bring on 2027”.

The Manchester icons are rumoured to be gearing up for a huge UK and European tour in 2027, which could include Manchester residency and a return to Knebworth.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, “a number of sources” close to the Man City football club recently claimed that there are 12 shows planned for the Etihad stadium in summer 2027, as well as a long anticipated return to Knebworth.

There have been rumours of a return to Knebworth circulating since 2025, when a British peer said at the House of Lords that Oasis were playing five, back-to-back anniversary gigs there in 2026. She would later backtrack on the comments.

A documentary about the ‘Live ‘25’ tour is also on the way, and the first trailer for their “landmark” new Steven Knight-directed documentary arrived exactly one year after shows kicked off in Cardiff.

Don’t Look Back In Anger will be released in cinemas and on IMAX on September 11, before becoming available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu around the world at a later date in 2026.
