Richard Gere and his family were cheering on Spain ahead of their big win against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on Sunday, July 19.
The actor’s wife, Alejandra Silva Gere, 43, who is originally from Spain, shared multiple photos and videos on Instagram as they headed to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., which was renamed the “New York New Jersey Stadium” for the duration of the World Cup.
The mom of three could be seen posing with Gere, 76, and one of her sons, who appeared to be Albert Friedland, 13, in the stands at the game, while another clip she shared showed the team with their medals holding up the cup. She blurred her child’s face in the images to protect his privacy.
Alejandra also posed for a photo with Javier Bardem, with him and Gere each holding a side of a Spain T-shirt while Alejandra beamed in the middle of them.
She also posted other clips from the game, as well as the halftime show, which brought together an all-star lineup that included Shakira, Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber for an 11-minute performance.
“There are moments you know you’ll remember for a lifetime, and today we were incredibly lucky to experience one of them in New Jersey, surrounded by family, friends and thousands of people sharing the same excitement,” she captioned her post, translated from the original Spanish.
“Watching Spain be crowned world champions was a mix of joy, nerves, hugs, and pride. It was one of those experiences that reminds you how wonderful it is to celebrate together and feel united by a shared dream. ❤️,” she shared.

“It was such a thrill to experience this together,” the publicist concluded.
Alejandra and Gere share sons Alexander, 7, and James, 6. Gere is also father to Homer, 26, whom he shares with ex Carey Lowell, and Alejandra shares Albert Friedland, 13, with ex Govind Friedland.
The actor and the Spanish activist got married in 2018. Six years later, in 2024, they announced that they were moving to Spain.
Alejandra’s latest post comes after she shared a carousel of photos on Instagram after watching Spain beat France in the World Cup semi-finals on Tuesday, July 14.
Alejandra could be seen cheering alongside two of her boys as her team won in one shot.
In another photo, Alejandra snapped a selfie wearing a white soccer jersey and matching skirt, while two of her sons wore red and blue jerseys.
“Congratulations, Spain!!! We’re in the final!!” Alejandra captioned the post, translated from Spanish. “Today, hope, shared effort and sport’s wonderful ability to remind us that — for a few minutes — we all feel the same thing, have won the day.”
“What a joy to see Spain in the final!” she continued. “Now, let’s enjoy the journey…and keep dreaming together. Let’s go, Spain!”
