Entertainment Luxury Cinemas to host job fair for new Swansea theater

A movie theater in Swansea is set to reopen this summer after being closed for six years.
A job fair will be held on July 28 to hire for various positions, including theater staff and management.
Entertainment Luxury Cinemas is taking over the former Regal Cinemas site at 207 Swansea Mall Drive.
The new owner plans to open within a few weeks, with major renovations to follow later without closures.

Coming this summer to a town near you, the reels are about to get turning once again at a popular SouthCoast theater spot.

After a six-year absence, Swansea-area residents are cheering the long-awaited revival of the former Regal Cinemas site, as Entertainment Luxury Cinemas breathes new life into the once-bustling 207 Swansea Mall Drive movie destination.

According to Bill Hanney, owner and operator of Entertainment Luxury Cinemas, renovations to the dormant theater are planned, but he is eager to open the doors to excited movie-goers within a few weeks.

But before the public is invited in to sit back, relax and enjoy the show in front of the screens, the company is looking for locals who want to “be a part of the Experience” behind the scenes.

Job fair planned for new Swansea movie theater

Interested in helping to usher in a new era at the Swansea theater?

Entertainment Luxury Cinemas Swansea will be hosting a job fair Tuesday, July 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at its 207 Swansea Mall Drive location.

“Come meet our team and start your next adventure in the movies,” reads a Entertainment Luxury Cinemas Swansea Facebook announcement about the hiring event.

The company will be conducting on-the-spot interviews for a number of positions including theater staff, concessions, and management.

Old Regal brought back to life

On Thursday, July 16, Hanney gave The Herald News a tour of the building, which he built in 1996 and operated as an Entertainment Cinema until he sold the theater to Regal.

Regal went out of business and closed the Swansea theater amid the height of the COVID pandemic in fall 2020.

The building has remained empty since but was left in such good shape that it won’t take long to reopen once they’re staffed and a cleaning crew comes in to spruce up the interior.

Renovations to enhance and modernize the Swansea theater are expected following its debut, but closures are not expected when that gets underway.

When will Entertainment Luxury Cinemas Swansea open?

No official date has been announced yet for Entertainment Luxury Cinemas Swansea.

Aside from the Swansea location, Entertainment Luxury Cinemas currently has several movie theaters across New England, and multiple live theaters, including the famed Theatre by the Sea in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and the North Shore Music Theatre.
