Tinashe is stepping into a bold new era.
The multi-platinum singer, songwriter, producer and dancer has announced her eighth studio album, Popstar, arriving on September 25th this year, alongside the release of its latest single, “Crash Out”, giving fans another taste of what’s to come.
Following the swaggering confidence of recent single “Too Easy,” “Crash Out” leans into pulsating production courtesy of Couros, pairing snapping beats with Tinashe’s effortlessly cool vocals as she declares, “I’m about to lose it, but I don’t really care no more.” The accompanying music video, directed by 91 Rules with creative direction from Tinashe herself, continues the artist’s reputation for slick, choreography-driven visuals.
If her previous LP Quantum Baby cemented Tinashe’s status as one of pop’s most independent and inventive voices, Popstar looks set to embrace that confidence even further. The new album promises a collection of unapologetic anthems that continue to blur the lines between pop, R&B and dance music – territory Tinashe has made unmistakably her own throughout her career.
The announcement follows a remarkable run for the singer. Her viral hit “Nasty” became one of 2024’s defining songs, racking up more than 500 million streams and dominating social media with its dance trend before becoming a bona fide radio hit. She followed that success with “No Broke Boys,” her collaboration with Disco Lines, which topped Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, surpassed one billion global streams, earned nominations at the BRIT Awards and American Music Awards, and took home Dance Song of the Year at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Across eight studio albums, Tinashe has continued to evolve on her own terms.
