Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma often go to Vrindavan to visit Premanand Maharaj, especially if it is before or after a major life event. Usually, it is a common sight for fans because they travel often. Be it a big match or a scheduled visit, they have often made headlines because of their devotion.

Fans, however, don’t view it the same way. The couple has often gotten backlash because of this, and with the timing, their latest visit is getting worse traction than usual.

For a while now, fans and supporters have been asking their favourite celebrities and actors to ‘grow a spine’ and speak up either for or against a cause. The protest that took place on July 20 has had the entire nation focusing on the students and those who were fighting against the education system.

In the midst of it, videos surfacing of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma going to visit Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan feel like putting salt on an open wound. The CJP-led protest is all people can talk about, but not them; as is the point of the people who are unhappy with them.

Many celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Atul Kulkarni, Shabana Azmi, Diljit Dosanjh, Riteish Deshmukh, Prakash Raj, Preity Zinta, Imran Khan and more have spoken up after seeing just how violent the protests had gotten and how many students got hurt and assaulted in the process.

What has angered fans isn’t that Virat and Anushka are going to Vrindavan; it is their silence. In a time when every voice matters to the supporters, their silence is unfortunately speaking volumes.

One fan said, “Kohli is a SPINELESS GUY. Sachin is a SPINELESS GUY. Movie stars are vulnerable, but cricketers are not. They’re selected on merit. There’s a reason why Jay Shah has not been included in the playing XI as a glorious catcher. Speak UP.”

Some were calling him the “ragebait final boss.”

Another said, “Man he’s making me tired af. you can have your faith and im never against it but at least read the f*cking room.”

The backlash around him only increased as people in the protest continued to call him out, asking him to speak up since he is idolised by so many Indians across the world and especially within the nation.
