Deezer, the French music-streaming platform, is being flooded with AI generated music. In June, fully synthetic tracks accounted for more than half of all new uploads for the first time, averaging around 90,000 per day.

That is a dramatic increase from January 2025, when Deezer detected approximately 10,000 AI-generated uploads per day, representing 10% of new tracks.

These songs still account for only between 1 and 3% of total streams on Deezer. But the company says as many as 85% of their streams are fraudulent – artificially generated to collect royalties.

According to Deezer, the accelerating volume of synthetic music poses a critical challenge for the wider music industry.

A study commissioned by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers estimates that generative AI could reduce music creators’ revenues by 24% by 2028 – equivalent to around $4.5 billion.

Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier called for streaming platforms and the wider music industry to establish common standards for AI-generated content.

“We have reached a pivotal moment, but we have the technology to keep track of the development, and an ambition to do what’s right. If the industry can align and come together to create shared standards, we can build a healthy and sustainable music ecosystem, where great music wins,” he said in a statement.

For over a year, Deezer has been tracking the volume and percentage of songs uploaded to its service. During this period, the platform has documented a steady upward trend in the addition of AI-generated material.

Their share of new daily uploads increased from 10% in January 2025 to 18% in April, 28% in September and 34% in November. It rose again to 39% in January 2026 and 44% in April, before exceeding 50% – or approximately 90,000 tracks per day – in June.
