The four-day, annual “Festival of Fandom” is back this year in the state’s capital, with doors opening Thursday.
GalaxyCon, the summertime event that features Hollywood stars, voice actors and other representatives from different worlds of fandom, is running through Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center.
This year, some celebrity guests include William Shatner, David Arquette, Hayden Christensen, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Macchio, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Pam Grier, Steve Burns of “Blue’s Clues” and many others. Voice actors, entertainers, creators, pro wrestlers and more are also featured at the event.

Parking
The number of parking spaces reserved for the event in downtown decks is more than 23,000, according to the event’s website, which also includes a complete list of available parking decks and a map.
Street parking and private lots are also options, in addition to 50 surface lots throughout the downtown area, the site says.
If you go
Cosplay and costuming are big parts of the event as are contests and panels. Tickets start at $53 for a single-day pass Thursday and run upward to nearly $1,000 for autograph and panel sessions with different celebrities.
