The Phillies acquired outfielder Kameron Misner from the Royals for cash considerations on Saturday, the team announced. Misner was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Outfielder Steward Berroa was designated for assignment to make room for Misner on the organization’s 40-man roster.
Misner, a former first-round pick of the Marlins in 2019 and a left-handed hitter, was designated for assignment by the Royals on Wednesday. He’s appeared in 18 games in the majors this season. He has a .500 OPS in 44 plate appearances and has played all three outfield positions.
Misner, 28, has played parts of three seasons in the big leagues; two with the Rays and this year with the Royals. He’s a career .206/.259/.312 hitter in 276 plate appearances. The 28-year-old has enjoyed more success in the minor leagues, where he’s a career .248/.367/.448 hitter with 90 home runs across parts of season sevens.
